Privacy Policy
Updated 26 Oct 2026
When you sign up as a user, you acknowledge and agree to the User Agreement and this Privacy Policy. Please read this policy carefully before using ReadWith, which is run by Growing Seed Ministries ("GSM"). It tells you who we are, how and why we collect, store, use and share personal data, your rights over your personal data, and how to contact us if you have a complaint.
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") sets out the basis on which GROWING SEED MINISTRIES LTD ("GSM", the "Company" or "we") may collect, use, disclose or otherwise process the personal data of users of the ReadWith apps, website and services (the "Platform"), in accordance with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act ("PDPA"). It applies to personal data in our possession or under our control, including personal data held by organisations we have engaged to collect, use, disclose or process personal data for us.
1. Application of this Policy
- This Policy applies to everyone who uses the Platform (a "User").
- By using the Platform and its features, or otherwise giving us information or communicating with us, you agree to our collection, use, processing and disclosure of personal data as set out in this Policy.
- This Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Singapore. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with it shall be referred to and finally resolved by the courts of Singapore.
2. Personal data
"Personal data" means data, whether true or not, about a User who can be identified from that data, or from that data and other information we have or are likely to have access to.
Data you give us
- Sign-in data: what your chosen sign-in method needs, that is a phone number and the PIN you set, or an email address and password, or the account identifier a platform gives us when you sign in with Apple, Google or GitHub. We send no SMS codes and never use your phone number for marketing.
- Display name: the name shown to your group. It need not be your real name.
- Languages: the app language and meeting language you choose.
- Group data: the groups you join or ask to join, your role in them (member, leader, mentor), your check-ins, meeting attendance and reading progress.
- What you send: questions to your mentor, messages to your leader, prayer requests, what you write when asking to join a group, and your feedback to us. If you tick "Don't show my name" on a question, the mentor does not see your name.
- Profile for an adults-only (18+) group: only if you join such a group, your birth year and month, gender, a line about yourself, and optionally your city and church or fellowship.
- What mentors and leaders upload: reading plans, audio, video, images, text and replies.
Data collected automatically
- Device and usage data: device model, operating system and version, app version, device language, push notification token, sign-in times, and the technical logs needed to run the Platform.
- Network data: the IP address you connect from, used for security and to tell which region the Platform is serving. We do not use it to track your location, and we do not collect your location from your device.
Data that stays on your device and is never uploaded
- Your reading notes and personal marks are kept only on your phone. You can make a backup file with a passphrase you choose, to restore on a new phone; we hold no server copy and cannot read it.
- Your Security Mode setting is kept only on your device.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for identity card or passport numbers, bank or payment details, or your precise location. The Platform takes no payments or donations. Apart from personal data, we may keep anonymous information that is not linked to any person.
3. Collection, use and disclosure
We generally collect personal data that you give us knowingly and voluntarily when you use the Platform, or that someone you have authorised gives us, after you have been told the purposes and have agreed. We will ask for your consent before collecting further personal data or using it for a purpose we have not told you of, unless the PDPA or other law permits or requires otherwise.
Purposes
- To provide the Platform: to verify your identity, create and protect your account, let you join groups, read by a plan, check in, listen to or watch your mentor's content, ask your mentor and receive replies.
- Notifications: to send notifications such as meeting reminders, your mentor's replies and group news. With Security Mode on, a notification only says "You have something new" and carries no content.
- AI helper: when your group has the AI helper on, your question is sent to the AI provider we have set so it can draft an answer; questions on sensitive matters go to your mentor instead of the AI. The AI never sees an adults-only profile.
- Service and feedback: to answer your requests, questions and feedback.
- Improvement and troubleshooting: to improve the Platform, test features and fix problems, and to understand, in aggregate and without identifying anyone, how features are used.
- Security: to keep the Platform secure, spot unusual sign-ins and prevent spam, abuse and fraud. Our personnel may access information for this, on a need-to-know basis.
- Compliance: to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and to assist investigations by government or regulatory authorities where the law requires.
We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for marketing or advertising.
Who we disclose it to
- Your group: your display name, check-ins and reading progress are shown to the members, leader and mentor of the same group. Leaders and mentors can see the questions you ask, unless you chose to hide your name or to be answered privately by the mentor. In an adults-only group the leader sees your profile with your join request and members of the group see each other's profiles.
- Service providers: only as far as needed to run the Platform, such as hosting, notifications (Apple, Google), delivery of audio and video, and AI providers. They may process data only on our instructions.
- GSM's directors, officers, staff and representatives, and our professional advisers and auditors, on a need-to-know basis.
- Government and regulatory authorities, and anyone else, where the law requires it or where needed to protect the safety of users and the public.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The apps use no advertising cookies, pixel tags or third-party analytics trackers. The mentor dashboard on the web uses its own cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your language and which notices you have seen.
A mentor may give a day a video that is on YouTube. It plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced player (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you tap play; YouTube (Google) then receives your IP address and device information, under Google's own privacy policy. Nothing loads from YouTube until you tap.
5. Withdrawing consent
- Your consent to our collecting, using and disclosing your personal data stays valid until you withdraw it in writing or by email to the contact below.
- We may need reasonable time to process a withdrawal and tell you its consequences, including any legal consequences. We generally do so within fourteen (14) working days of receiving it.
- After you withdraw consent we can no longer provide the Platform to you and will end your use of it from the time we receive your notice. If you change your mind, tell us in the same way.
- Withdrawing consent does not affect our right to collect, use and disclose personal data without consent where the law permits or requires it, such as for a court order or legal process.
6. Access and correction
- You may ask, in writing or by email to the contact below, for a copy of the personal data we hold about you or how we have used or disclosed it in the past year, or to correct or update it. You can change your display name, languages and adults-only profile in the app at any time, and delete your account in the app's settings.
- We reply as soon as reasonably possible. If we cannot reply within fourteen (14) working days, we tell you in writing within that time when we will. If we cannot give you the data or make the correction, we generally tell you why, unless the PDPA does not require us to.
- Depending on the request, we may give you the personal data contained in a document rather than the whole document.
7. Protection
- Your data is stored on servers run by GSM or its hosting providers. Connections are encrypted. Sensitive settings, such as AI provider keys, are stored encrypted. Audio and video uploaded by mentors have personal metadata stripped during processing and are stored under random names.
- We use appropriate administrative, physical and technical measures against unauthorised access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification or disposal, and share personal data internally and with authorised service providers only on a need-to-know basis.
- No method of transmission over the Internet or of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee security, but we keep reviewing and strengthening our measures.
8. Accuracy
We generally rely on the personal data you give us. Please keep it current, complete and accurate, in the app or by telling us in writing.
9. Retention
- We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes it was collected for, or as the law requires or permits. Account data is kept while you use the Platform. After you delete your account we delete or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable time, except where the law requires us to keep it.
- When you leave a group, records about you in that group are handled according to the group's settings; questions you asked are kept after the mentor's reply so you can read it later. An adults-only profile is deleted 30 days after you leave every such group, or with your account.
- Technical logs are deleted automatically after a fixed period.
10. Children
ReadWith is for people aged 13 and over. If you are under 13, please do not use the Platform. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we delete it promptly.
11. Transfers outside Singapore
Your data may be transferred to, stored and processed in places outside Singapore. You consent to this. We make sure your data keeps a standard of protection at least comparable to that under the PDPA and this Policy, through security measures, deleting data from storage at your request, and personal data protection clauses in our agreements with providers.
12. Effect of this Policy and changes
- This Policy applies together with any other notices, contract terms and consents that apply to our collection, use and disclosure of your personal data.
- We may revise this Policy from time to time; the effective date below shows when it was last updated. For significant changes we notify you in the app. Continuing to use the Platform after a change means you accept it.
13. Consent
You agree to the terms of this Policy and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data for the purposes set out in it. You may withdraw consent, or ask for access or correction, as set out above.
14. Contact us
Please contact us if you have any question about this Policy, or any enquiry or feedback about how we protect personal data:
